Phuket serves to be an exhilarating place for any holidaymaker. The island is the land of sun, sea and sand, but shopping is the main attraction, which the tourists look forward to. Ranging from marketplaces trading chic designer replicas to grand stores with brand-name electrical goods, Phuket shopping has all in it. The prices are much cheaper than that in the west.

One of the best places to go for shopping in Phuket is the malls, but then the idea might not be alluring to every shopper. One of the biggest malls in Phuket Town is the Central festival. It houses an extensive array of apparel stores, including the famous name Zara. Sportswear, footwear and more are also sold in various shops.

Print shops are also found here in Phuket and there is a large retail outlet with designer labels that sells perfumes and so on. Power Buy and a few other shops are good places for buying electrical commodities. Music and DVDs are sold in certain shops however video games are cheaper in Patong than in here. Eateries in Central Festival vary from Fuji and KFC to Pizza Hut and Oishi, as well as Sizzler.

Jung Ceylon, the other major Phuket shopping mall, is an enormous, extensive cluster of shops and stalls the range of clothes and other merchandises do not vary much from the ones at Central Festival. However, a few more electrical stores are found here. The restaurants at Jung Ceylon are better though. The basement houses a number of stalls selling local bits and bobs that make great souvenirs for taking back home.

The weekends are the time when the Phuket market becomes alive, selling t-shirts, shoes, DVD, CDs and pets at cheaper prices. This huge market is usually packed to the rafter or in other words brimming with people. However, some great barter can be made, if you are geared up to do a little survey. The market is located off Chao Fa west road.

A stroll through Patong would land one hounded by hawkers selling everything from watches to suits but the quality here is not too good and the prices are pretty high. Patong is, however, the best place to shop for fake DVDs, CDs, computer software and videogames.

Buying fakes may prove to be perilous as there may be difficulty taking them through customs on way back home however Bangkok is the best place to buy a suit as the tailors there, are known to do good jobs.

Phuket shopping isn’t exactly as superior as Bangkok is, but it has more than enough in it to keep most people contented.
